Like Duh Mom

So a month or two ago I told Evie she was beautiful and, as if she meant it, she rolled her eyes back as if saying “Whatever Mom.” She was in the bathtub just this month and I asked her to roll her eyes back for me. This is what I got with the camera. I couldn’t stop laughing!

Proud Mama

So yesterday and today I felt very proud of Spencer. I’ve been trying to get him interested in learning his colors but he never really cared. I’m not sure if he heard someone say it or not, but yesterday he brought two light sabers to me and told me he had a red one and a blue one. I was shocked and couldn’t stop smiling. Then today during Sacrament meeting, Spencer was drawing quietly on a travel sized magnadoodle or whatever they’re called, and showed it to me. He said “I drew a triangle” and it was a nearly perfect triangle (on of the straight lines were a bit wavy but it had three lines and three corners). Another proud moment. What a great little man I have!

Every year I like doing an “All About Me” page for my kids. That way, when they’re older, they can see their likes, dislikes, friends, and unique things about themselves. Here’s Spencer’s for 2008.

So I just turned off the computer and started to stand up when I heard Spencer cry out. I went into his room and asked what the matter was.

Sp: “I never got a new map.” (bottom lip sticking out)
Me: “You’re right. Were you dreaming about it while you were asleep?”
Sp: “Yeah.”
Me: “Okay. How about you go back to sleep and you’ll have a new map tomorrow morning.”
Sp: “Okay.”

What a silly little boy! His buddy, Reid, had his 3rd birthday party on Tuesday. It was a Pirate party and although Spencer said pirates were scary, he really enjoyed himself. Leona (Reid’s mom) did such a great job (props to you Leona!!!). She even had a treasure map that led them to the ticking crocodile (egg timer) from Peter Pan. The kids followed the map, found it, and then they’d hid it again. At the end they found their treasure chests (I can’t pry it out of Spencer’s hands!!!) with lots of booty inside! Well, after we came home Spencer (who is very particular…maybe a little OCD?…about how things have to be) decided that the map was too wrinkled. He’s been asking me for a new one ever since. I keep hoping he’ll get over it but he obviously hasn’t. What a silly boy.

Spencer and Evie love building towers and forts with the couch cushions. I love doing pages of our every day life so I decided to do this one today!

Today I started showing Aimee and Leona how to do digital scrapbook pages. After they left I decided to do one of my own. Here’s what I came up with:

Growing Up (Evie)

Evie is getting so big! She repeats words and answers when I ask a question. Her “no” means “yes”, at least most of the time it does. Here are a few I actually caught on camera.

So Aunt Netty bought Evie 2 white shirts because she “ruined” 2 white shirts (that already had stains so she really didn’t ruin them) and Evie looks adorable in both of them! Here is a super cute picture of Evie wearing one of them. Thanks Netty!

Pure Frustration
icon1 memilyrae | icon2 kid's stories, Thoughts | icon4 03 19th, 2008| icon31 Comment »

I hate the feeling of pure frustration…especially when it comes to my kids. Tonight is the 5th night that Evie has screamed…and I mean SCREAMED…bloody murder when I lay her down for ni-ni. Typically I’ll lay her down, turn on some music, give her Teddy or Puppy, and give her water in a sippy cup and she closes her eyes and drifts to sleep like a sweet pea. But NO…the past 5 nights I lay her down and it’s constant noise for 30-60 minutes. I’ll even go in and tell her I love her and that it’s time for ni-ni. Arg! This is killing me! I’m so frustrated with her that I want to just close all the doors and drive away for a while…but that whole ‘love’ thing keeps me at home listening to the non-stop yelling…and wall banging…and thrashing around hitting her sippy cup on the bars noise.

That’s what I’m feeling…Pure Frustration.

So, Evie has said a few words here and there and I haven’t been very good at writing it down. I got one on camera and wanted to share it with you. She has said “Matt” (she pulls Uncle Matt’s picture off of the wall and points to it a lot), “cookie”, “that medicine” (which is on the video), “balloon”, and she said “en” (Lauren) and “ee” (Kayley) when Mikey asked who was in the pictures. Here’s the link to her “that medicine” video.
