The kids were in serious need of summer pajamas so I got a few at the store yesterday. I thought these looked adorable on Evie! She was telling me she wanted a “cheese stick” (stringed cheese) in this picture.
Who knew a swing would bring so much drama? On Mother’s Day we were outside enjoying the day with our neigbhors. Evie was playing fine until she say our neighbor friend, Baily, get into the swing. She threw such a tantrum!!!
Then, yesterday, Evie was watching from the window and saw Bailey in the swing again. She stood there yelling “My Swing! My Swing!” I said, “Evie, can’t we share the swing with your friends?” Evie yelled, “NO!” I couldn’t help but laugh. Steve said she’s like her mommy…my first word (if I remember right) was “no” and at some point my favorite word was “mine.”
I mentioned previously that Evie threw up as soon as we stepped foot into the doctor’s office. We were there for Spencer and Evie’s check up. We haven’t had insurance on either kid since they were one (which means for Spencer it had been 2 years!!) and now that we have insurance it was about time! Spencer was pretty nervous…he wouldn’t even stand on the scale without some major encouragement and threats of losing toys. I’ve thrown toys away before when he wouldn’t say he was sorry for hurting his cousin (I try to follow through on my threats) and he decided it was better to stand on the scale than lose his Transformers. I had to hold Spencer through the whole check up. They had the doctor and a student doctor from BYU in the room at the same time. Evie did wonderfully with the doctor. She sat still for him and loved his special made stethascope. Evie got 3 shots (and has 3 more to go to catch up) and Spencer had 1. This definitely was the most emotional part of the whole visit. They both cried a bit but we talked about how shots make our bodies strong and healthy (plus talk about going grocery shopping and getting strawberries) helped them calm down. They both got a sucker and a prize for doing so well. It took nearly 2 hours and I was surprised that I didn’t feel overwhelmed or cranky or simply-done-with-everything when we left.
I took pictures of Evie with her bandaids but never got one of Spencer.
Spencer: 28.8 lbs
Evie: 22.8 lbs
Evie is so funny. She has a new quirk…I think it started a week ago. She LOVES putting things in her shirt and watches them fall out. I have NO idea where it came from either. I finally got a few pictures of her doing it. She is now running around the living room with 3 or 4 fingernail polishes in her shirt and says “uh oh” when they fall out. How odd!
So, I think my children are just adorable. Spencer is bouncing around the room singing “Book of Mormon Stories” when he doesn’t even sing in nursery…I would know….Steve and I subed for nursery last Sunday and I was in charge of singing in all 3 classes and Spencer just sat there. But, it’s cute to see how much he’s remembering.
Evie, on the other hand, has only been to nursery 3 times and can do almost all of the motions to “Popcorn Popping.” She’s adorable! I think she’s going to be very into singing and dancing as she grows up.
I love that my kids love nursery. We have some really great teachers and I’m so grateful that they love my kids too! (Plus Steve and I get to be together during Sunday School!) YIPPIE!
I was resting on the couch after a not-so-nice night with Evie and when I woke up and saw Spencer playing with colored pencils and markers (which I had hidden in a cubby in my room). I asked him if he ever opened the markers and he said no. Spencer is usually pretty honest with me so I trusted him…that is, until I saw the bathroom floor!!! (By the way, HOW did I miss the blue marker ALL over his face?) Right before I started his bath I asked him to stand next to the marker so I could take a picture. I wonder if my “scrapbookers mind” is sending him mixed signals…’coloring on the floor is bad, but mommy wants to scrapbook it.’
Naughty, but darn cute!
Evie has started showing interest in sleeping in Spencer’s bed. So, we’re letting her. She lays down, pulls the blanket on herself and puts her head on the pillow. I sit in the hallway where she can see me, that way she knows not to get up…plus it gives me time to read a book before I lay down. After she falls asleep, and after Spencer passes out on the couch or our bed, we put him in bed with her…that way they have the “body warmth” and they both stay asleep. Unfortunately, they both tend to wake up throughout the week wanting to cuddle (which isn’t so bad but I like my bed). This way, they can cuddle next to each other. So far, it’s been great! Evie, instead of waking up at 3:00 am, has been waking up at 6:30 or 7:30 am…which, to me, is WONDERFUL! We’ll probably get her her very own big girl bed soon. Here’s a picture I snuck while they were sleeping.
