I SO have a girl!

Episodes like today (and yesterday, and the day before that) are the reason why I only want one daughter. That’s right…she’s been a PILL! Especially around nap time or bed time! She refused to take a nap today and I thought – oh good…that’ll make bed time easy. At 5 I stopped and said, “Spencer, where’s Evie? She’s being too quiet.” I found her on the couch like this:

She just crashed! Luckily she only slept for 1 hour. But then the attitude came back out. She cried and she screamed. I tried to give her a cheese stick, her milk, a candy… I put a princess movie in, I tried playing with her…NOTHING! She just kept at it. Finally daddy came home and that distracted her for a little bit…then she screamed and cried when I tried giving her dinner AND ice cream! She screamed at me when I brought her out of our neighbor’s house! She just SCREAMED (and mind you…it’s the loud, high pitched “I’m so mad and I want you to know it” scream!) Steve and I were figuring out a program on the computer and she started going through our stuff. Steve told her ‘no – those aren’t yours. Put them back’ and she screamed some more! Look how tragic her little life is? She stood there with her arms stretched out, reaching for something she couldn’t (and shouldn’t!) have. Can you guess what it was?

Condoms!

I have a little girl

bam! It suddenly hit me…I really do have a little girl. Not just a girl that hurts her brother, messes with daddy’s laptop or getting into everything. I have a G-I-R-L! She lets me do her hair (although she usually pulls it out), she’s starting to love dress up clothes and her new favorite thing… “Printah” (princess).  She LOVES pricesses! I’m kind of excited that she likes them, although I’m sure Steve won’t be too excited to see more pink and more princess stuff around the house. Oh well…he’ll have to get used to it I guess. 🙂

Actually, it’s ‘while I was sleeping.’

I find it funny what children will do when the parents are sleeping. Actually, only sometimes is it funny. Evie woke up before I did this morning and boy o’ boy did I find a lovely site.

PLEASE DO NOT LOOK TOO CLOSELY – THINGS MAY OR MAY NOT BE COMPLETELY CLEAN!!!!!

Sweet, sweet Evie likes to go (or mostly pretend to go) potty on the big potty because we clap and make a big deal out of it AND because she has ‘permission’ to touch the toilet paper. Ugh…now she’s going after it when I’m not looking. Lovely.

Potty Charts

Spencer is doing a FANTASTIC job and we are seriously cheering for him every time he goes potty by himself! He always tells me “I do it by myself!” just like Reid did (thanks again Reid!…and Leona!) Here’s his new potty chart:

I’m really, REALLY glad Spencer is doing so well…we went to Walmart today since we #1) had no diapers; #2) had no pull-ups; and #3) he was wearing the only clean pair of underwear!!!! As soon as we got to the store, Spencer told me he had to use the potty. We ran inside, he went potty, washed his hands and off we go! We get back to the pull-ups and he tells me  he needs to go again. I grab the pull-ups, we run to the front of the store (which Shana later informs me that there’s a bathroom in the back!!!!), pay for our items, get home and WHAT?!?!?!? I bought PULL-UPS for EVIE TOO!?!?!? Oops. Looks like we might be going back to the store tomorrow for diapers. Luckily, Spencer is a great example to Evie like Reid was to Spencer. Here’s Evie’s potty chart:

Yep, that’s right! Evie says, “Pah-ee” and runs into the bathroom. We pull down her Pull-Ups, she does her business, wipes, flushes, washes her hands and Wah-la! Evie gets a star on her chart too! Wouldn’t that just ROCK to have BOTH kids using the big/little potty!?!?!?!? I would SO love it!

http://www.thefreedictionary.com/ defines “bag lady” as

Noun 1. bag ladybag lady – a homeless woman who carries all her possessions with her in shopping bags

As of tonight, Steve and I define “bag lady” as Evie…at Target…smelled stinky…got to check out… noticed stink was oozing out of her shorts…what to do?…plastic bag…two holes in the bottom…legs go in…make a knot on the sides…stink contained.

YUCK! My camera is smoking (think the ‘patch’ will work?) so I didn’t take a picture of it. 🙁 It was hilarious and the poor girl had no idea what was going on!

I’ve been waiting a little while to get the kids a room set that actually matches. I let Spencer choose between this and these .  We went to IKEA and when we got to the kid bedding area, Spencer found the one he picked right away (and he was very proud of himself for doing it). This morning, we cleaned their room, which never stays clean due to little fingers who decide to play once they see it put away, and put their things together. This is what we got:

stuffed animal net

Spencer’s bedding

Curtains

Evie’s bedding

I loved it because the bedding was only  $15/each (1 sheet, 1 blanket, 1 pillowcase). I love IKEA!

So Evie’s top teeth are FINALLY coming in! She was so willing to stick out her tongue and show off her teeth!

So, in a previous post you saw what happens when I get a hold of the razors and try cutting Spencer’s hair short on the sides but longer on top…

I decided I wanted to just shave it all since we’re doing family photos on Saturday. As I was finishing off the top, Spencer says, “I want mommy and daddy to do it.” So I said I’d do some of it and daddy could finish the rest. Here’s what I did…in honor of my brother, Brent…

Both Stephen and Spencer liked it but it was uneven and, I hate to admit, a really sloppy job. BUT, at least I took a few pictures!

Here’s my little stud after I finished cutting his hair and he got ready for church. What a GQ Stud!

And here is dear Evie…and what happens when we put a dress on her…

I’ve been DYING to do Evie’s hair and actually have it stay in longer than 10 seconds! I was FINALLY able to for church on Sunday! THEN Spencer saw Evie get her hair done and he let me do his hair too! I wanted to be able to spike it, but the sides were too long so I ATTEMPTED to cut it. I might just shave it all again soon…he looks like he’s heading to the military!

Hard as a Rock

Poor Evie had to follow in her big brother’s footsteps…or should I saw lack of footsteps. When Spencer was 1, he forgot to step on the last step of our back steps…that, of course, end in a gravel/paved parking lot. Yes, it’s true…Evie did it too. When Steve helped stand her up, a pretty big pebble/small rock was still sticking in her forehead. How horrible am I? I wanted to take pictures BEFORE I cleaned it and bandaged it!!! What a bad mom I am! Sheesh! Evie wouldn’t let me put a bandaid on so I put one on Teddy first. She figured if Teddy can get one, so can she. And boy did she look tough with a Spiderman bandaid on her head!
