So at my appointment last week the doc said the baby is measuring about 5 pounds…sounds bigger than what 34 weeks should be measuring…So I’m guessing I’m still measuring a week big. I forgot to ask last time. Here’s what Babycenter says:
Your baby now weighs about 4 3/4 pounds (like your average cantaloupe) and is almost 18 inches long. His fat layers — which will help regulate his body temperature once he’s born — are filling him out, making him rounder. His skin is also smoother than ever. His central nervous system is maturing and his lungs are continuing to mature as well. If you’ve been nervous about preterm labor, you’ll be happy to know that babies born between 34 and 37 weeks who have no other health problems generally do fine. They may need a short stay in the neonatal nursery and may have a few short-term health issues, but in the long run, they usually do as well as full-term babies.
I’ve been thinking about having a hospital bag ready to go but I haven’t done anything about it yet. I also want to have bags in the van for the kids too…that way, wherever we are and whomever takes them, we’ll have something to send them with – especially clothes wise! I’ve seen list after list of what they suggest taking to the hospital but most of it I can forget because I haven’t needed them in the past, so why start bringing it now? Here’s my list of what I’ll be packing:
Toothbrush/paste, hair brush, makeup, deodorant, etc.
Clothes – comfortable clothes while at the hospital, clothes to come home in (need to make sure I remember a nursing bra! Sorry boys!)
Laptop & charger
Camera & charger
Book – not sure which one yet…a few will be coming out around the time I might have him so who knows!
Cell Phone – I don’t usually leave home without it
baby’s going home outfit
baby’s car seat
light blanket
diaper bag – leave in the van
Uh….am I forgetting anything? It’s been nearly 4 years since I last had to do this. I can’t remember!!
