This past weekend we were so excited to celebrate Kayley’s decision to be baptized as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I know we are very proud of her…and let me tell you…she looked beautiful in her baptism dress! I can’t believe how big she is and that she is already 8 years old!!!
Steve saw this quote and I immediately thought my brother, Michael, would love it. But I thought it was funny enough that I wanted to share it with all of you!
Some people are like slinkies. Not really good for anything but they bring a smile to your face when pushed down the stairs.
So, earlier this year our washing machine started making a sort-of grinding noise. Come to find out…it broke! It took us 3 weeks (and standing at Best Buy talking to the customer care people for a hour and fifteen minutes with two small kids) to even get them to send out the fix-it guy (we were not given a special number for the washing machine when we purchased the warranty)…then a week for the parts to come in and then 3 days for him to fix it! THEN he said that the parts will make noise for 3 or 4 loads. Well, one month later it’s STILL making tons of noise and it kept getting worse. This morning we woke up, started a load of laundry and we thought “Wow…that’s really noisy.” Steve stopped the cycle and what do you guess? It smelled like something was burning and it would not rotate any more! Steve tried putting it on the spin cycle just to see if it’d get rid of the water but no…it wouldn’t do anything! I’m just thankful that we bought the warranty! The Fix-It guy is calling next Tuesday to set up a time to come take a look…then we’ll probably have to wait for the parts to ship and then have him come back to fix it. What a hassel! (Thank you Annette for letting me do my laundry…AND forcing me to fold them before I do another load….at your house!)
I just want my washing machine to work! :*(
I was once given the nickname “Devil in Disguise” (song by Elvis Presley) and today I thought it’d be fun to pass that nickname on to Evie. She really is a good girl…but she’s also a 1 year old. I wanted to make a page describing how she is…you know, her “helping out” and how she “plays with” (or bugs) Spencer. That way she’ll know when she’s older…maybe with her own little “Devil in Disguise”…what she was like. Here’s my page:
In 2006 we surprised Steph with a progressive lunch for her birthday celebrations. We started at Chili’s for appetizers, next to PF Changs for the main course, and finally at Applebee’s for dessert (yum yum!). These women are my best friends and I love ’em! (I just realized I need to change the title to say “lunch” not “dinner”…oops!)
Annette and I are addicted to Wicked, the musical. The music is amazing and because of the story I love the “Wicked” Witch, Elphaba. Anywho, I was sitting here listening to the music and the song “For Good” came on. What a beautiful song! I decided to make a page focused on me and my best friend, Annette. 🙂 Take a look if you’d like.
I hate the feeling of pure frustration…especially when it comes to my kids. Tonight is the 5th night that Evie has screamed…and I mean SCREAMED…bloody murder when I lay her down for ni-ni. Typically I’ll lay her down, turn on some music, give her Teddy or Puppy, and give her water in a sippy cup and she closes her eyes and drifts to sleep like a sweet pea. But NO…the past 5 nights I lay her down and it’s constant noise for 30-60 minutes. I’ll even go in and tell her I love her and that it’s time for ni-ni. Arg! This is killing me! I’m so frustrated with her that I want to just close all the doors and drive away for a while…but that whole ‘love’ thing keeps me at home listening to the non-stop yelling…and wall banging…and thrashing around hitting her sippy cup on the bars noise.
That’s what I’m feeling…Pure Frustration.
So, Evie has said a few words here and there and I haven’t been very good at writing it down. I got one on camera and wanted to share it with you. She has said “Matt” (she pulls Uncle Matt’s picture off of the wall and points to it a lot), “cookie”, “that medicine” (which is on the video), “balloon”, and she said “en” (Lauren) and “ee” (Kayley) when Mikey asked who was in the pictures. Here’s the link to her “that medicine” video.
Well, now that we’re all feeling better and getting back into the swing of things I can finally get some pictures up of Spencer’s birthday party!
Crazy cousins dancing to the Stadium Music cd
Tons of friends came to celebrate!
Reid, William, Tyson, Cameron, London, Talmage, Bentley, Prescott, McKayley, and cousins Lauren, Kayley, Evan, Luke. Let’s not forget little sister Evie
We started off playing outside on the big toys, then hit a baseball and kick a soccer ball to earn stickers.
Evan ready to hit a home run
Luke’s turn!
Reid up to bat
Next we ate lunch. We had finger foods (crackers, cheese, lunch meats, chips, soda). Afterwards we headed downstairs to shoot the basketball and throw a football. The kids had so much fun playing with Annette’s toys that we didn’t really end up doing more sports. Instead we let them play and we adults sat around talking.
London “Favorite friend from Nursery”
Time to open presents!
Most of the pictures from Spencer opening his presents looked like this – all of his friends wanted to see and help! 🙂
Grandpa Shaw fell asleep – not a shock! 😉
Spencer got a new bike from Grandma and Grandpa
We ended with cake and ice cream. If you saw the video Leona put up (I have the link below), you already know Reid blew the candles out for Spencer. He was a little sad but we re-lite the candles and Spencer blew them out. After a day of fun we headed home for naps. I was sick so I was really ready to sleep. Afterwards we surprised Spencer with a few more gifts.
He was so excited to get Woody and Buzz from Toy Story. Now he has a tough time getting them out of Evie’s grip of death.
